SINGING IN THE RAIN

Assembly Performance by Prep 9

Monday 12 October 2009

Prep 9 know that it is important to save water.

At Plenty Parklands Primary School we save water in lots of ways.

Australia is very short of water.

We are not getting enough rain.

Australia is having a drought.

Prep 9 decided that we should do a rain dance to try to make it rain!

It may not have rained but we had lots of fun trying!

BREAKFAST AT SCHOOL

In Science we learnt about healthy eating. We learnt which foods are healthy and help our bodies to grow strong and also help our brain to learn well.  Then we came to school in our pyjamas! We had to bring our own bowl, spoon, plate and cup. After breakfast we washed our own dirty dishes!  We all ate healthy food like cereal, fruit and toast and we drank juice, milk or water.

AT THE FARM

The preps visited a farm.

We had so much fun at the farm- we rode a pony, milked a cow, held the baby animals in the nursery, fed the ducks, checked for eggs, peeked at a huge pig and of course helped out by cleaning up the horse poo! Have a look at the photos to see us at work on the farm!

THE GINGERBREAD MAN

All of the prep classes read the fairytale, ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We loved reading the story so much we got to make our very own Gingerbread Men! We had some parent helpers to help us make the dough and then we used a rolling pin to flatten the dough. Then we used the gingerbread cutter to cut out our Gingerbread Men. Before they were put into the oven we decorated them! After they were cooked in the oven we took them home and gobbled them up!

MRS WISHY WASHY

We read lots of big books about Mrs Wishy Washy.

To celebrate these wonderful stories they dressed up as Mrs Wishy Washy

and scrubbed and washed her dirty, muddy animals.

They loved this experience as you can see.

“Wishy-Washy, Wishy-Washy!”
